Disposable wipes can cost on average £250 in the first 3 years and end up in landfill for years and years with the slow process of decomposing. Reusable wipes cost you a small amount to start with and can be reused again and again.

Cloth wipes are very simple to use. They are really soft and gentle on the skin so they are great for helping when doing nappy changes.

You can take them out in a wet bag or a resealable pot. It is useful to take a couple of bags one for dry clean wipes and one for used wipes so they can be ready for the washing machine.

Want to start using cloth wipes ? Changing to reusable wipes is a small change that can make a big difference. Not only for when you are doing nappies changes, you can also carry on and use wipes through out life. Many families continue to use wipes as family cloth or using as facial and body cleaning wipes.

Some People take the wipes ready to use others use a spray bottle, others use a tap and wet the wipes as and when required.

What do you use on the wipes? The easiest answer to this is just water but others may add tea tree, baby soap and other essential oils (ones suitable from birth) in to their solution.

You can wash them alongside nappies or whatever you need to wash. You should soak any bum wipes first in cold water this stops any stains setting in to the product. But don’t forget sunshine is an amazing stain remover. You should wash your wipes on a long wash with a minimum of 40c for wet ones and at 60c for soiled products. Unless instructions tell you other wise to ensure they are hygienically cleaned.

Family Cloth – We don’t personally use family cloth here at my house yet, maybe one day, there are many families out there that use resuable wipes as an alternative to paper roll.

Face wipes – I have reusable wipes and I use them as facial wipes. So when i’m washing my face after a shift at work and giving it a cleanse, they are super handy to have in bathroom. We currently have a selection in a Respiin bowl ready to use at any point. I also use them in the bath for my little boy for a gentle clean rather then a sponge as it irritates his skin less.
