Paleo-animals are a collection of toys inspired in paleontology, the science that using imagination brings back to life extinct creatures.
These toys consist of a wooden board with figures that can be pulled out to build prehistoric animals using no glue and allowing the child to try and experiment with the imagination. When removed, the pits in the board have printed the bones of those animals. Playing with it develops shape recognition, concentration, goal setting and a sense of achievement and it also tickles the sense of curiosity.
This toy is composed by a board with holes like a paleontology excavation, in them the child will find pieces of wood to build a cool Triceratops. There are many ways in which you can use this toy to play and tickle the curiosity, sorter skills and the never-fading excitement for the dinosaurs and the creatures from the past.
We consider this collection has several innovative aspects.
First they are “multi-layered toys”: They are sorters -The child needs to associate the parts of the animals with the holes left in the desk-. They are also puzzles -Children must find the right position of the parts in order to build the animal-. And finally, they are an animal figure -The parts hold together when assembled and are ready to be played with-. Children can also put the parts back in the desk and build again the animal an infinite amount of times.
They come in two versions; in natural wood and black oak. They both aim for rustic monolithic shapes with just few details printed. They take advantage of the grain of wood as a natural graphic to tell the story of fossils, animals turned into stone.
