Flowers that last forever…?! Use our wooden Flower Press Kit to help crafty kids to unwind and relax. Flower pressing dates as far back as Ancient Egypt and became popular in England during the Victorian era. It’s a fantastic way of saving a sentimental bloom or examining it in my detail.

Little ones can pick and gather their favourite flowers, place them on the wooden board and learn how to press flowers down. Our kids flower press can make impressive floral creations that make pretty gifts or artwork.

Our wooden flower press comes embellished with a beautiful garden illustration that features flowers, a ladybird, bumblebee and butterfly. Made from high quality, responsibly sourced materials and coated in non-toxic paints and lacquers.

Kids Flower Press Kit product features:

  • Children’s flower press kit
  • A fun way to make precious keepsakes
  • Examine flowers in more detail
  • 3 years +

How to use your flower press:

1. Pick your flowers and leaves.

  • The best picking time is during the warmest part of the day when blooms have minimal moisture content.
  • Remember that you are flattening the flowers, so avoid flowers with big thick cores such as roses as these won’t flatten so well.
  • Thicker flowers such as roses can be cut into sections and their petals can be separately pressed.

2. Cut some paper.

  • The press can be used without paper, however using absorbent paper, such as craft paper or paper from a drawing pad, will help keep the cardboard clean and help with moisture absorption over time.

3. Collect your flowers and arrange.

  • Gently trim your flowers and neatly arrange them between layers of cardboard and absorbent paper to optimize the amount of blooms to press.
  • Try not to overlap any of the petals or leaves to avoid them sticking together.

4. Put the press back together.

  • Reassemble the layers and tighten the wing nuts. Applying careful pressure to the press may be necessary to secure the nuts.
  • Make sure the press is screwed down firmly but not too tightly. If you press really tightly then your pressed flowers will show the lines from the cardboard sheet corrugations.

5. Done!

  • Keep your press in a cool, dry place for at least 2-4 weeks.
  • After this time, you can have a look, but if the flowers aren’t fully dry then leave them for a while longer. Take care not to damage the flowers when separating the layers.
  • You may need to re tighten the press slightly after a couple of weeks also.
  • Depending on the thickness of your flowers and leaves, it could take a few months to achieve the finished result.
